HealthNow Master Plan
The HealthNow corporate headquarters and operations center, prominently located next to the New York Niagara Section Thruway, is a distinctive “landmark” building. The site stood vacant for decades and required the largest brownfield clean-up in the history of the Buffalo-Niagara region. The design utilizes the 1848 facade of the Buffalo Gas Light Company to maintain historic preservation while incorporating a curved glass curtain wall to lend a progressive 21st century image to the building. Working closely with stakeholders from HealthNow, CSO identified “Guiding Principles” early in the planning process to set criteria for the space/master plan. After identifying and evaluating numerous plans, the project team opted for an L-shaped building which features a seven-story atrium that connects two office towers of six and eight stories.
