Vigo County Aquatic Center
CSO Architects was commissioned to design this new 30,000 s.f. aquatic center to replace the aging pools at three high schools (Terre Haute North Vigo High School, South Vigo High School and West Vigo High School) and to serve Indiana State University Women’s swimming and diving team, the Terre Haute Torpedoes. The facility includes a 50M x 25 yard swimming pool (with two movable bulkheads), control room, diving well, seating for 350 to 500 spectators, locker rooms, offices, instructional space, a concession stand, therapy pool, and provide MEP support. The main public entrance to the center opens up into a 284 square foot lobby that leads to an elevated spectator seating area. In addition to the new building, the design called for a new park entrance to create a boulevard drive circles in front of the facility and leads to two parking areas. This new facility was designed to add vibrancy to the area and to create a new destination for Vigo County swim activities.
