St. Thomas Medical Center
St. Thomas Medical Center is a 59,908 square foot, two-story new construction project in Jasper, Indiana. A joint venture between St. Thomas Medical Center and Memorial Hospital and Health Care, the Core and Shell project is anticipated to house four-operating room ambulatory surgery center, an imaging suite, exam rooms, and facilities for the nearby Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center just south of the project site. Through tenant guidelines that will include recommendations and requirements, the future tenants to the building will be encouraged to design and build towards LEED certification for Commercial Interiors. Challenges in the project team’s efforts towards LEED certification were apparent from the beginning the size and location of the community made some credits impractical, in particular a number of the Sustainable Sites credits.
