Commercial-Grade Culinary Lab and Renovated Bistro Elevate Culinary Training

A new culinary lab featuring stainless steel appliances, commercial-grade workspaces, and integrated technology that allows workstations and the demonstration area to be displayed on monitors with flexible camera configurations.

The student-run restaurant, The Warrior Eastro, received a complete renovation with vibrant wall graphics, updated finishes, a wood slat ceiling/wall system, and an expanded storefront for increased natural light. A large-group instruction room and culinary classroom replaced former offices and a lecture room, featuring a vertical lift door for flexible space usage.

Student-Run Restaurant Offers Real-World Experience

The Warrior Eastro is staffed by students of the Culinary and Pastry programs and serves lunch to staff and the community two days each week.

A renovated and expanded salon and new barbershop feature a design that rivals real-world salons.

Cosmetology students provide a wide range of services to the public, staff, and students—including manicures, facials, and haircuts/styling.

Phase 1 focused on campus circulation, safety, and performing arts upgrades—introducing separated traffic patterns, a new roundabout, secure entrance vestibules, a synthetic turf practice field for the marching band, and expanded, light-filled Hall of Fame and gym improvements. Phase 2 enhanced security and student flow by relocating high school and career center administration to secure front entrances, moving the clinic for better access and emergency response, expanding the Commons, and modernizing the culinary arts program with a commercial-grade lab and renovated student-run restaurant.

Phase 3 concentrated on comprehensive academic renovations. Classroom upgrades included new finishes, lighting, HVAC, technology, and fully renovated restrooms, alongside a refreshed façade to unify the campus. Counseling services were relocated and expanded, a new Community Room was created for school and public use, and the Performing Arts Center received seating and acoustic improvements.

The renovations also included the expansion and modernization of the school’s Walker Career Center spaces. Serving students from multiple high schools, WCC features 20 programs with state-of-the-art technology and occupies 185,000 sf at Warren Central High School. Comprehensive upgrades to Career Center labs and classrooms were designed to reflect industry standards and evolving workforce pathways. All spaces received new flooring, ceilings, HVAC systems, lighting, casework, and instructional technology, while large industrial labs were enhanced with epoxy resinous flooring and added acoustical treatment for durability and comfort. “Industrial Drive,” the central spine corridor sized to accommodate a tractor-trailer, was modernized to better support hands-on learning environments. Locker rooms and restroom facilities were expanded and adjacent classroom spaces were enlarged to meet rising enrollment. Together, these improvements position the CTE programs to deliver safe, flexible, real-world learning environments aligned with current workforce demands.
