An industrial interior palette is softened by warmth and light.

Inside, a simple material palette of warm wood, polished concrete, and black industrial windows sets a refined industrial tone upon which an unsuspecting warmth is infused through profiled molding, welcoming light fixtures, and a thoughtfully curated furniture and color scheme. Dichroic glass adds a vibrant nod to the company’s mirror-making roots and reflects the Skyline mark in its logo.

The architecture honors history while embracing a modern, forward-looking aesthetic.

Drawing from the company’s roots in mirror glassmaking, the building also reflects its growth into a global materials leader and responds to the surrounding campus context. It pairs red brick and stone detailing with tall, vertically proportioned openings. Modern updates include steel lintels, crisp masonry, and a set-back glass entry beneath a minimal steel canopy that refines the overall expression.

Located on its historic manufacturing campus, where Saint-Gobain’s Norton Abrasives business has operated for over a century, the new administration building marks the company’s continued commitment to the Worcester community. The use of dark red brick, vertically proportioned windows, and stone sills references their historic campus architecture. These traditional elements are paired with modern details, such as steel lintels, sleek masonry work, and a recessed glass entry with a minimalist steel canopy. Saint-Gobain’s own cutting-edge materials are showcased throughout, including SageGlass electrochromic glazing, Flintlastic roofing, GlasRoc sheathing, M2Tech drywall, Symphony ceilings, and AcoustaTherm insulation.

From the outset, every decision was driven by Saint-Gobain’s goals: ensuring top-quality performance and material selection leveraging Saint-Gobain’s high quality sustainable product line, minimizing risk, maintaining budget, accelerating delivery, and ensuring top-quality performance. To achieve these goals, the design-builder, DPR, proposed an extensive prefabrication strategy — a choice that ultimately maintained the structural design and project cost while improving the overall schedule.

The new administration building is more than a new corporate headquarters for Saint-Gobain—it’s a powerful example of how innovative delivery methods can directly support client objectives. By prioritizing speed, quality, and certainty from day one, the project demonstrates a new standard in construction: one where clients can expect greater value, less risk, and faster realization of their vision.
